Job Placement and Training Services
Disciples For Christ offers a range of job training programs, support services and pl
acement and post-placement services for adults and youth with barriers to employment. Services are accessible for individuals with disabilities as well as focusing on placing them on a path to employment and independence.
Recruitment is on an on-going basis throughout the year. Most individuals are referred by local agencies and word of mouth. Participants are screened for skills and interest. We help them develop a training and employment plan, and choose the best support for them. Our Case managers meet with participants regularly and move them through the employment services components at a pace consistent with their individual needs.
Some training programs are offered in a classroom setting, and in most cause have structured schedule. These particular classes run numerous times throughout the year. For example our career development and housing lab/construction course is an 8 week program and individuals will receive a certificate of completion once they have completed all the class requirements.
Those that participate in the housing lab/construction classes has the opportunity to experience on- the- job training as well, which includes a small stipend paid to students once they have completed the course. Placement services are made available as soon as an individual is coming close to completion of courses, as they will be ready for competitive employment in the community. Following placement, post-placement support is provided for a year or more, with career services available through our RE-Focus program.
